About Us
Cards for Comfort (CFC) aims to provide comfort and care to patients in hospitals, hospice care, and homecare through heartfelt cards and letters. These cards are created by volunteers as well as executive members and sent to various healthcare facilities that have granted the club permission to do so. The creation of these cards and letters will occur during card nights at the University of Ottawa as well as volunteers devoting their time remotely in the comfort of their own home.
Our Mission
Our club involves members gathering to design and write messages of love, compassion, encouragement and resilience. These card nights will foster community collaboration and allow participants to express their compassion and creativity through art. Volunteers may also choose to go into the healthcare facilities and give the cards by hand.
Our club also aims to seek elementary schools and high school involvement by providing education professionals resources to create cards as a class project. These classes may be eligible to go in-person to distribute these cards. If it is possible, this club may also recruit high school volunteers to obtain their community volunteer hours through the club's guidance. These simple acts can significantly boost the patients' mental and emotional well-being.
Volunteers of CFC will have the privilege to gain crucial experience through altruism. CFC's work strengthens community bonds and promotes a culture and environment of kindness and empathy. In conclusion, Cards for Comfort demonstrates the profound impact of compassion through the simple gesture of creating and distributing heartfelt cards, providing comfort and care to those in need.
